Let’s get Ready for Summer!
Summer is on it’s way and ASBC is excited to provide some great opportunities. We will be starting the summer off with our annual volunteer event, ASBC Bike Check In Team, for IronMan Boulder on June 9th. Our 70% autistic team is hard working, efficient and a lot of fun. Every year IronMan tells us how much they appreciate our clockwork ability to get the athletes bikes checked in and photographed. We love meeting the athletes and helping the community and they are always very grateful for our hard work.
On June 28th we will be heading out for our third annual ASBC rafting trip. Over 45 people have registered for the two day camping and rafting adventure. Families and adults on the spectrum have the chance to camp, hang out in nature and go white water rafting in an autism supportive environment. Every year this event gets bigger and better. This will be our largest event yet and we are looking forward to the fun! Shelly Brandt coordinates this for us each year and we can not thank her enough! We are lucky to have such dedicated folks with strong commitments to creating community and getting out to have a good time.
The volunteering and fun continue with the Tinkermill Fourth of July Carnival. This Carnival is a blast. They need volunteers to make is a success and we love to help them out! The third annual TinkerMill 4th of July Carnival! TinkerMill is the place to be this Independence Day, with activities, entertainment and maker demonstrations for the whole family! July also brings the iCanShine Bike Clinic. Last year was a fantastic success and we are excited to get even more people riding this year. If you have a rider, please sign them up via the link on our homepage. You can also sign up to volunteer there. We need a lot of people who love helping others learn. When: Monday, July 23rd through Friday, July 27th (Orientation will take place on Sunday, July 22nd at 2pm) Where: Ascent Community Church, 550 S. McCaslin Blvd, Louisville, CO 80027 (Old Sam’s Club) Cost: $150 Register: Contact Shelby Sellers at bikecamp@autismboulder.org to get the registration process started.
At the end of summer look for our free and exciting Family Picnic at Gateway Fun Park! Last year so many people told us how much they enjoyed playing mini golf, hitting baseballs in the batting cages, playing with the maze and driving the go-karts that we are doing it again in 2018. Families and adults on the autism spectrum are welcome to come and play. Keep an eye out for the time and date.
As always ASBC will maintain our usual monthly activities. Support groups, Airborne and Progresh and Tinkermill memberships are all ongoing and will be throughout the summer. Our Facebook, Newsletter and Twitter will keep you informed.
Have a great summer! We look forward to seeing you at our events.
