ASBC Update - What our Congressmen are doing about Mercury in Vaccines....

Senator Allard's office continues to review our documentation, however, we believe he will not support our community on these issues.

Senator Salazar is actively pursuing information and speaking with Congressmen in Washington who support our these efforts on behalf of our community.

Representative Udall's office continues to meet with us regarding our concerns with current legislation that affects our community and decisions on how Representative Udall will vote on the legislation below is imminent. We will notify our community of Representative Udall’s intentions as soon as we have been notified. Representative Udall has also recently signed on as a co-sponsor of the Combating Autism 2005 bill currently under consideration in the House. ASBC is very pleased by this latest news and very encouraged by the fact that in our latest meeting with his office our concerns with regard to assuring that the Combating Autism 2005 bill complies with congressional recommendations (5/2003) on the types of research this bill will fund as well as providing for the restoration of trust and transparency, that was noted as lacking in the recently published IOM Vaccine Safety Research, Data Access, and Public Trust (Feb 2005).

We received word from Representative Udall's office that he was very concerned about the drug maker protections and that he voted AGAINST the Department of Defense Authorization bill. This was a very difficult vote for Mark Udall. We appreciate his advocacy for our community.
